Inspired by the success of the mother and daughter collection Tête à Lunettes, Caroline Abram co-created a collection for fathers and sons, Talla and Mini-Talla, with her partner in eyewear and life, Italian designer Gianluca Gualandi.

Now available in New Zealand, the Mini-Talla collection, dedicated to boys between four and 12 years old, pays homage to Talla men’s iconic shapes, said Kiwi distributor Image Optics’ Eric Bleakley. “The Tête à Lunettes collection is growing within our stockists and we expect Mini-Talla to dovetail with the girls’ range nicely in this market.”

The Talla men’s range offers a sophisticated and contemporary European style, said Bleakley. “Using high quality materials like titanium and Italian acetates provide lightness and durability to the frames, giving the wearer style and comfort. A lot of the finishing is also done by hand, particularly on some acetate models, offering a unique final look.”

Image Optics selects styles and sizes in colours that fit the New Zealand market, rather than taking everything, said Bleakley, though the team does like to push the boundaries a little. “We will have at least 20 styles of Talla, current and new release, and generally we carry at least three colours in each. If available, we can also source frames in alternative colours.”
