Auckland Eye joins ARCH

Auckland Eye is the latest ophthalmology practice to offer its facilities and ophthalmologists to help Auckland Regional Charity Hospital Trust (ARCH) patients ineligible for publicly funded cataract surgery who cannot afford to go private.

In addition to being involved in ARCH, Auckland Eye ophthalmologists have provided charity support to a number of New Zealand and overseas projects, said Auckland Eye’s Dr Dean Corbett. “We have provided not only surgeon hours but also considerable resources over the years to our Pacific Island neighbours. It is therefore in keeping with that attitude that supporting ARCH fits well with our practice philosophy."

Re:Vision’s Dr Trevor Gray initiated the rallying cry to Auckland’s ophthalmic community to provide cataract surgery through ARCH late last year. Fellow Re:Vision ophthalmologist Dr Mo Ziaei said, “It’s about us providing a service that is needed by the community. Cataract surgery is life-changing. It’s a privilege for Trevor Gray and I to be working with ARCH to help save people’s sight.”
