Changing for the greater good

Established in Turin, Italy, 30 years ago, creative eyewear company Vanni is changing its status to a benefit corporation, a legal moniker available only to Italian businesses pursuing objectives of common good, beyond those of profit.

Formally adding the objective of common good into the company statute is the cumulation of work that’s been ongoing for some time, said Vanni president Giovanni Vitaloni. “For us, the Covid crisis has constituted a moment to redesign and rethink. We did not want to let this moment pass without making something of it. From here came the urgency to bring about, through the activities of the company, a medium to long-term change in both the social and environmental impact we produce in response to foreseen challenges over the next five years. It is not a surface-level makeover, but rather an undertaking of substantial responsibility.”

Italian made 100% from start to finish, the pillars of Vanni’s new direction will be built on quality, sustainability, improved working conditions and positive economic outcomes, said the company.
