Specsavers is joining the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) to strengthen its global efforts to make eyecare a health priority for all.

IAPB is delighted to welcome Specsavers as a Band A member, said Peter Holland, IAPB CEO. "We can learn an enormous amount from Specsavers' innovative approaches, from diagnostic technology to community outreach," he said. "Their data-driven research and expanded access to care are vital tools in our shared mission.”

As a member of the IAPB, Specsavers is taking a strong stance for better eye health across all regions and will continue to work with local IAPB partners Eye Health Aotearoa, Vision 2020 and The Fred Hollows Foundation, said Duchesne Markham, senior stakeholder and professional communications manager at Specsavers Australia and New Zealand.

Notably, 2025 marks 16 years of partnership between Specsavers and the Fred Hollows Foundation, with more than AU$10 million in donations raised to help improve access to eyecare for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Pacific Islander communities, Markham said.

IAPB Band A membership is available to organisations committed to ending avoidable sight loss and which can play an active leadership role within the global eye health community.
