Dr Simon Dean, an ophthalmic surgeon with subspeciality training in oculoplastic, anterior segment and ocular oncology, has joined the team at Re:Vision.
“We are thrilled that well-known surgeon Dr Simon Dean has chosen to join the red shoe team at Re:Vision,” said Dr Trevor Gray. “Importantly, Simon brings expert surgical skills in complex cataract and astigmatism surgery as well as oculoplastics. His friendly, open communication manner and experience with managing challenging anterior segment disorders further expands his services to our patients. Welcome to the team Dr Dean!”
The immediate past head of department at Counties Manukau, Dr Dean is also active in RANZCO activities, having been a lead examiner for over 10 years, and is an honorary clinical senior lecturer at Auckland University. He holds an MSc in cataract and refractive surgery from the University of Belfast.
Dr Dean said the Re:Vision environment is a perfect fit for him, where he hopes to complement the expert patient-focused care being offered by Drs Gray and Mo Ziaei. “An honest and realistic approach to eyecare is what I like to offer, in a friendly team environment, with gold standard equipment and surgical interventions at hand.”
Dr Dean also has a keen interest in photography and optics and has designed and built a number of ophthalmic instruments, including a corneal collagen crosslinking device and the Photon UVC, a handheld device designed to destroy keratitis-causing microbes using UV light.
