Optimed has become the second authorised distributor for the iCare range of products in New Zealand, effectively allowing it to once again sell and support the Eidon and DRSplus products range it originally introduced into New Zealand.
Originally the exclusive distributor for Centrevue’s Eidon and DRS range, Optimed lost the agency in New Zealand when Centrevue was acquired by iCare in mid-2019 and it was given to iCare’s Australasian distributor Designs for Vision (now Paragon Care).
But now they are coming home, said Optimed New Zealand’s Craig Norman. “We have always loved these products, so we’re absolutely thrilled to announce that we can now continue to distribute them (and) provide product support and service.” It’s been a long journey to secure these products again, he said, paying tribute to the customers who’d supported the company to this point.
As well as iCare’s DRSplus and Eidon confocal fundus imaging systems, most with TrueColor imaging and multiple modalities, and including Eidon’s ultra-high resolution widefield imaging system, Optimed will also be distributing iCare’s Compass perimeter with active retinal tracking, its state-of-the art MAIA microperimeter and its popular and effective range of handheld rebound tonometers, said Norman.
