Eye Health Aotearoa (EHA) has appointed Dr Ayesha Verrall, MP and Labour Party spokesperson for health, and Sam Uffindell, MP and chair of the Health Select Committee, as its new Parliamentary Friends of Eye Health (PFEH) co-chairs.
“Eye Health Aotearoa would like to thank Dr Ayesha Verrall and Sam Uffindell for their support this year and looks forward to working with the co-chairs in 2025 to champion eye health and improve patient outcomes to save New Zealanders' sight,” said the advocacy group. “The Parliamentary Friends of Eye Health co-chairs play an important role in building relationships within government and championing the importance of eye health.”
Dr Verrall and Uffindell replace former MPs Dr Liz Craig (Labour) and Dr Elizabeth Kerekere (Green Party) as PFEH co-chairs.
