The four International Optician of The Year nominees: Vitor Martins (Portugal), Daniel Scott (UK), Hitash Visavadia (UK) and Phernell Walker (US).

The International Opticians Association (IOA) and Silmo’s shortlist for the coveted International Optician of The Year 2024 award is announced: Vitor Martins (Portugal), Daniel Scott (UK), Hitash Visavadia (UK) and Phernell Walker (US).

The winner of this year’s award will be selected by an anonymous, international, multi-disciplinary panel of experts and will take the crown from the 2023 laureate, Jean Francois Porte from France. The announcement will take place at the prestigious Silmo d’Or ceremony in Paris on Saturday September 21, 2024.

Apart from the coveted title and diploma, the winner is invited to attend Silmo Paris in 2025 (flights and hotel provided by Silmo) and enjoy an IOA lifetime membership.
