Free contact tracing system for practices

Health intelligence company Cattrax is offering a free, cloud-based electronic contact tracing register to all New Zealand optometry practices.

The register is designed to be fast, simple and secure to use, said Siobhan Molloy, executive officer of the New Zealand Association of Optometrists (NZAO). “Cattrax has been approved for the collection of health-related data and is compliant with the New Zealand Health Information Privacy Code 1994. This service is provided free of charge and will ensure compliance with any contact-tracing requirements when practices reopen.”

Kiwi designed and developed, Cattrax expanded its successful referral and data collection service to include contact tracing after being approached by Waikato optometrists looking for something to help them, said co-founder, consultant ophthalmologist Dr James McKelvie. Now being rolled out to eye care professionals in DHBs and the community, in association with the NZAO and others, such as the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of New Zealand, the Cattrax contact tracing system is free and easy to use, said Dr McKelvie. “Cattrax is free for every optometrist and dispensing optician in New Zealand. We do not charge the NZAO, we are just grateful for their support. We believe we can achieve some great things by working together to improve eye care in New Zealand.”

Contact tracing is compulsory under Alert Level 2 and above as asymptomatic carriers coupled with large numbers of staff and patients create a significant risk of Covid-19 transmission. For more information and to sign-up to the system, contact the NZAO or email: info@cattrax.co.nz
