EssilorLuxottica has signed an agreement to acquire Espansione Group, the Italian manufacturer of Meibomask, a low-level light therapy (LLLT) device, and OPE (optimal power energy) intense pulsed light device, for patients with meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis or Sjögren syndrome and other causes or symptoms of dry eye disease.

This investment will expand EssilorLuxottica’s portfolio of medical devices and solidify its role in the optical industry, said chairman and CEO Francesco Milleri. “We are pleased to welcome the pioneering Espansione into our group. EssilorLuxottica’s med-tech journey, aimed at elevating vision health standards, will continue to be an open and collaborative one, where our products and services are accessible to all industry players.”

The acquisition is subject to local regulatory review and other customary conditions.
