EHA seeks awareness campaign support

Committed to transforming the eye health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders, Eye Health Aotearoa (EHA) is seeking support for its upcoming awareness campaign promoting the importance of regular eye checks at all ages.

Kicking off in August 2025, the three-month campaign will deliver impactful messaging, leveraging insights from previous campaigns and will collaborate with aligned organisations to reach a wide audience, said Inhae Park, EHA trustee and council member of the New Zealand Association of Optometrists.

Shared nationally, key resources will include a short video featuring a young Māori person discussing the importance of eye health, a billboard and poster asking, "Did you know 90% of blindness and vision loss is preventable or treatable? Eye checks save vision" (translated into te reo Māori, Samoan and Mandarin), plus a radio interview with a young person discussing their lived experience of vision loss.

The campaign’s primary focus will be on Māori and Pasifika children and their whānau, but is intended to reach all New Zealanders, said Park.
