The Orthokeratology Society of Oceania (OSO) is running a special education and movie event in Wellington, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth on Sunday 21 November, featuring the latest in ortho-k and myopia control complete with No Time To Die, the latest James Bond film.
“We are very excited to announce our live CPD event in Wellington in lieu of our conference having to be postponed again until 2023,” said OSO vice president Alex Petty. "OSO conferences are all about face-to-face interaction. Often the best clinical pearls are picked up during a heated clinical discussion over canapés or a frank discussion with a beer in hand! We want to try and retain as much of this OSO magic as possible, and we have been fortunate to have the support of some truly world-class speakers offering their planned talks in an exclusive pre-recorded format for us. Plus, who doesn't enjoy a trip to the movies to catch James Bond doing his thing?"
This special cinematic event will deliver more than three hours of CPD on ortho-k and myopia control from speakers including Associate Professor Maria Liu, UC Berkeley, on ‘Evidence-based myopia management review, six-year results from the UC Berkeley Myopia Control Clinic’; Professor Langis Michaud, University of Montreal, on ‘The Montreal experience – controlling myopia progression in Canada’; and Dr Monica Jong, global director of professional myopia education, Johnson & Johnson, on ‘The latest evidence-based clinical management guidelines.’
New Zealand organisers said they hoped to arrange an informal dinner for interested Kiwis attending the Wellington event to share lockdown stories and sample some of the capital’s fine cuisine. “We hope to see lots of us here for a much needed catch-up and chat,” Petty said.
