Virtual hospital rounds?

Australian-listed medtech firm Oneview Healthcare has launched a virtual hospital rounds and visits solution to minimise risks for patients and clinicians and to conserve personal protective equipment during the current and future pandemics.

The cloud-based solution is installed on a tablet that can be mounted on beds or rolling stands, allowing clinicians to conduct virtual rounds with patients and patients to call family and friends. It does not require integration with other systems and uses the hospital or nursing care facility's own video applications, said Oneview CEO James Fitter.

The telehealth tablet can also provide a virtual interpretation service and education and entertainment content. When a patient is discharged, the tablet is digitally wiped of data and sanitised ready for the next patient. It is currently in use in 55 hospitals in Australia, Thailand, the Middle East and the US, covering more than 11,000 patient beds.
