New York-based eyewear designer Selin Olmsted Studio has released its 2025 Eyewear Trend Report, created exclusively for the eyewear industry.

Noting how forecasting services tend to bundle eyewear trends with those of fashion accessories such as handbags, shoes and jewellery, designer and director Selin Olmsted decided the industry needed its own deep dive into the current design landscape. “Every significant retail industry has some form of trend report to be able to make smart design and purchasing choices. But for some reason eyewear has been left behind. This is our attempt to bridge the gap and analyse how global trends are influencing eyewear design,” she said.

Olmsted highlights nine trends to watch for 2025, broken down into sections, including optical, sun and colour. Offering a multitude of bold-design references, visionary concepts, intricate details and stunning colours, the studio said the report is an inspirational and insightful tool for designers, material and eyewear manufacturers, buyers, merchandisers and retailers.
