Dr Kaliopy Matheos has joined the Eye Institute team in Auckland. A New Zealand-trained ophthalmologist, Dr Matheos was awarded the Arthur Thomas Paterson Scholarship from the University of Auckland and gained subspecialist training in glaucoma and anterior-segment surgery at the University of Toronto in Canada.

Senior Eye Institute consultant ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist Professor Helen Danesh-Meyer said she was thrilled Dr Matheos was joining the team. “She’s an exceptionally dynamic, engaging and outstanding glaucoma specialist. She is a wonderful addition to our already very strong team which includes Drs Graham ReevesJay Meyer and Divya Perumal. This appointment allows us to provide comprehensive glaucoma care throughout all areas of Auckland.

Awarded the role of the optic nerve and glaucoma research fellow at the University of Auckland, under the guidance of Prof Danesh-Meyer, Dr Matheos said she was delighted to be joining Eye Institute and progressing her ophthalmic knowledge through research. I am passionate about empowering people to live fuller lives through better sight.
