Shamir and the Alpine Formula 1 team have announced an innovative new partnership, making the international lens company the team’s new optical performance partner. The aim of the collaboration, initiated by sports marketing company Fuse France, is to improve the visual quality and safety of every team member and, ultimately, their collective performance, said the organisations involved.

The partnership will create the first ever vision-performance lab in Formula 1, to provide sophisticated ophthalmic assessments for the team, Alpine Academy drivers, pit crew and other personnel at Alpine F1’s bases in Enstone, UK, and Viry-Châtillon, France, said Shamir’s CEO Yagen Moshe. “We are proud to be associated with this great brand and happy to apply our expertise to support Alpine F1’s performance. This wonderful collaboration with a leading team in a top performance sport represents a great opportunity for us to further the Shamir mission – improving quality of life by improving vision.”

Research and development will be a cooperative endeavour with both Alpine and Shamir engineers working together to investigate new vision technologies to improve racing and safety performance, including reduced-glare goggles, coloured visors and anti-fog lenses for the pit crew helmets, said Moshe.
