Volunteer Ophthalmic Services Overseas (VOSO) has received a large donation of frames, courtesy of the Independent Optometry Group. This is a very generous donation of optical frames and way more than the anticipated 200 frames IOGroup’s Campbell Wiltshire first offered to donate, said VOSO secretary Kylie Dreaver.

Temporarily stocking all the frames in boxes in her shed, she said VOSO will sort the frames and send them to New Zealand-trained optometrist Erna Takazawa in Samoa, who will allocate them as needed. “VOSO would like to say a big thank you to the Independent Optometry Group for this generous donation.”

In total, it was about $15,000 worth of frames, said Wiltshire, adding the IOGroup was very happy to donate them as it no longer holds stock, so they had become surplus to requirement.
