The panel of judges for Specsavers’ 2023 Dame Mary Perkins Award comprises John Mulka, chair of Eye Health Aotearoa and chief executive of Blind Low Vision NZ; Skye Cappuccio, CEO of Optometry Australia; and Carly Iles, CEO of Vision 2020 Australia.

Carly Isles and Skye Cappuccio (Aus), join John Mulka (NZ)

as the two other judges for this year's Dame Mary Perkins Awards

The Dame Mary Perkins Award is designed to recognise Specsavers optometrists who have made a significant impact on their patients’ lives. While the awards have traditionally been won by optometrists who have saved the life or sight of their patients, Iles said she’s keen to celebrate those who deliver exceptional eyecare services to everyday patients. “Dame Mary Perkins is well known for providing exceptional patient care. It is these traits I will be looking for in nominees – someone who consistently puts patients first… to deliver quality patient care or support to the local community.”

Mulka agreed optometrists play a vital role in the prevention of avoidable vision loss. “I’m very much looking forward to hearing the stories of optometrists who are going above and beyond to support their patients and selecting the 2023 winners of these awards.”

The judges will review nominations from across Australia and New Zealand. To nominate a Specsavers employee, email michelle.du@specsavers.com or visit https://tinyurl.com/mtcxxdsr
