Connecting orthoptists virtually

Orthoptics Australia (OA) is hosting a virtual weekend of learning, Connected as far as the eye can see, from 14-15 November 2020. The two-day event will cover a wide range of topics including vision screening, low vision, the impact of Covid-19, stroke and neuro-ophthalmology, paediatrics and strabismus and innovation in practice.

“We are very excited to host this fully online event. It offers attendees the flexibility to access pre-recorded content to watch at their own pace, as well as the opportunity to engage with live Q&A,” said OA president Jane Schuller. “The other benefit of a fully virtual meeting is that it provides us with a terrific opportunity to access several outstanding international speakers to diversify and further enhance the scientific programme.”

International speakers include Professor Seang Mei Saw from the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in Singapore, the principal investigator of the Singapore cohort study of the research factors for myopia (SCORM) and the strabismus, amblyopia and refractive error study (STARS) in Singapore preschool children; Professor Anna Horwood from the University of Reading in the UK, who will discuss child vision screening; and UK stroke specialist Dr Lauren Hepworth.

The event will be available on-demand until 31 January 2021. For more, https://www.orthoptics.org.au/education-cpd/2020-oa-online-weekend/
