Safilo CEO Angelo Trocchia and David Beckham

Eyewear giant Safilo Group has signed a 10-year agreement with iconic football player David Beckham to secure the global rights to produce and distribute David Beckham sun and prescription glasses.

In the launch statement, David Beckham said he values Safilo’s long history of creating high quality eyewear brands. “I wear sunglasses all the time and this is a category I love. So, it's important to me to work with a partner who cares as much about the design and craftsmanship of the product as I do. I'm really enjoying the process of creating a collection with the Safilo team and I can't wait to launch it next year.”

Angelo Trocchia, Safilo Group chief executive, said the partnership will create a new top male brand in the premium eyewear segment, while the “extraordinary power of the Beckham brand” will further strengthen Safilo’s presence among Beckham’s global digital audience.

The first Beckham collection is set to launch in January 2020.
