Building on its popular sunglass range and after announcing it was moving into optical in the middle of last year, Maui Jim’s full optical collection has finally arrived on New Zealand shores.

Nathan Fisher, Maui Jim’s marketing manager ANZ, said he’s thrilled to introduce the company’s new optical collection. “It’s a natural progression for us as we continue to build on the strength of Maui Jim and our sunglass offering, and truly become an ‘eyewear’ brand.”

The launch provides an opportunity to introduce Maui Jim’s uniquely Hawaiian heritage and premium, handcrafted styling to a new audience, whilst adding an entirely new offering for its existing, loyal customers, he said. The optical collection includes acetates, clip-ons, metals, specialty metals, rimless and thin-injected nylon frames. The metal collection is lightweight and extremely comfortable and wearable, said Fisher, especially for people with stronger prescriptions. While the collection’s specialty metal frames are made from Maui Jim’s most advanced material combinations, including beta titanium, titanium, memory metals and stainless steel.

With the launch of optical, Maui Jim is now able to offer its sunglass lenses in its optical frames, allowing a far wider sun script than previously possible. “We’re very excited about the opportunity to introduce new customers to the brand that were previously not able to wear Maui Jim’s patented PolarisedPlus2 lens technology,” said Fisher. “With our personalised, digitally compensated optical lens designs, six clear lens materials (two of which are proprietary - Maui Blue Light Protect and Maui High Contrast) and premium frames, sourced from Italy and Japan, all supported by industry-leading customer service, we can now provide a singular touch point for both sun and optical.”

Maui Jim will be showcasing its new optical range at O=Mega19.
